We’re beyond excited to finally share The Love Story Society with all of you! It's been a long time coming and a well-kept secret (trust me, we’ve been dying to shout it from the rooftops!).
Who Are We?
We started as three readers who met online after bonding over our love for collecting special edition books. Aurora discovered her love of reading through historical romance, devouring Julia Quinn's entire backlist. Nowadays, she tends to favor small town grumps and tattooed heroes but still loves a duke now and then. From the Boston area, she loves spending time with her dog and cat, is the clumsiest retired gymnast ever, and bakes more pastries than her family could ever consume. Gigi, on the other hand, dabbles in all kinds of fiction and fell back in love with reading during the pandemic. These days, she’s all about comedic thrillers, adult fantasy, and, of course, every sub-genre of romance. Ironically, the genres that probably own her heart are the ones she doesn’t pick up as often anymore—like YA fantasy and literary fiction. Some of her all-time favorites include A Little Life, The Secret History, Six of Crows, and pretty much everything in the Shadowhunters universe. As for me, Sonali—I also rediscovered my love for reading during the pandemic when I picked up a romance book I saw on BookTok. Before that, I don’t think I picked up a book out of excitement since middle school, when I read The Hunger Games and Twilight. Reading fantasy and YA books was a huge part of my childhood, and it seems like I'm going back to my roots because I finally picked up Fourth Wing and suddenly have the urge to read every romantasy book recommended to me. As a soon-to-be medical student, I’m embracing every moment I have left in sunny San Diego, taking long walks with the doggo, and always starting my day with an iced latte.
Our shared passion for romance, community building, and beautiful books has sparked a lifelong friendship (though it’s only been a little over three years, it feels like a lifetime!). A few months after meeting and creating a group chat, we launched Eternal Embers Book Shop, where we’ve had the chance to work with incredible authors, publishers, and curate special editions of some of our all-time favorite books.
But as our business grew, we wanted to do even more. We found ourselves eagerly anticipating new releases, wanting to discover new-to-us authors, and, most importantly, engaging with other readers who shared our excitement. And that’s how we got here—what started as a late-night thought turned into a full-blown discussion at 2AM.
